SM500 and SM500R

Reversible rotary actuator

Application
The rotary actuator SM500 is ideal for the automation of ball valves in nominal sizes DN65 to DN100 in 2-way and 3-way pattern.
Furthermore  the SM500 rotary actuator is also used to operate butterfly valves up to DN150 in commercial and industrial applications.

Function
– The rotary actuator SM500 is controlled by an electrical signal given by a thermostat, remote control or manual switch.
– Another option is the three-point control by means of an appropriate control device with the outputs: OPEN-INACTIVE-CLOSE.
– The model with relay (SM500R) is also suitable to be controlled by an ON-OFF switch.

As standard, the rotary actuator is equipped with two additional limit switches each having 2 isolated contacts.
By default, the rotation angle of the rotary actuator is 90°, but there is also given the possibility  to enlarge the rotation angle to 180°.

On request the rotary actuator can be equipped with a handle to turn the valve without electricity to the desired position. However, once the actuator is electrically connected it will find by himself the position set by the controller.
The handle consists of an assembly which is mounted between the valve and the rotary actuator.

Construction
All mechanical internal parts are made of metal. The gearbox housing is made of aluminum and the gear wheels are machined from steel being heat treated afterwards. The axles are mounted in self-lubricating bronze bushings.
The case back is made of cast aluminum and painted. The body cap is made of tough polycarbonate in self-extinguishing according to UL 94 VO.
Furthermore, on the bottom there are two cable glands PG11 mounted, both made of self-extinguishing polyamide.
The case bottom is equipped with a mounting flange according ISO 5211 F05 with 14 mm square.
The rotary actuator meets the requirements of the following standards:
– CEE 89/336-73/23-93/68
– UE 2002/95/EC
– UE 2002/96/EC (ROHS and WEEE)

Notes
The installation of the actuator must be performed strictly by a qualified electrician according to local regulations.
The ground terminal has to be wired always properly.
